Fort Sanders Perinatal Center specializes in maternal-fetal medicine and care for high-risk pregnancies. Its specialists assist patients experiencing pregnancy complications, maternal health conditions, fetal concerns, or other circumstances requiring additional monitoring and medical support.

Several transportation options are available for people traveling to medical appointments, hospitals, social-service offices, and other destinations in Knoxville.
Knoxville Area Transit, commonly called KAT, operates fixed-route public buses throughout Knoxville. Its website provides current schedules, route maps, service alerts, fare information, and a trip-planning tool.
KAT Route 42 serves the Fort Sanders and University of Tennessee medical center areas. Other routes may provide access to medical offices and community resources throughout Knoxville. Call KAT at 865-637-3000 or use the online trip planner to determine which route is appropriate for your destination.
Knoxville’s former trolley service has been retired and replaced by the KAT Route 1 Downtown Connector. The Downtown Connector is fare-free and operates approximately every 15 minutes through parts of downtown Knoxville.
KAT also operates The LIFT paratransit service for people who cannot use regular fixed-route buses because of a qualifying disability.
The LIFT provides door-to-door transportation by reservation. Passengers must apply and receive certification from KAT before using the service. A healthcare provider must complete part of the application. For information about eligibility, applications, reservations, and current fares, call 865-215-7850.
People enrolled in TennCare who do not have another way to reach a covered healthcare appointment may qualify for transportation assistance. Contact your TennCare health plan using the member-services number on your insurance card. Whenever possible, request transportation at least one week before your appointment.
